Broken Capillaries (medical term: telangiectasia rosacea) occur when the capillary walls narrow and widen too quickly causing the muscles in the walls to tear. This in turn allows blood seepage resulting in Broken Capillaries. Broken Capillaries are commonly found around the cheeks and nose area.
Broken Capillaries usually appear as small red bruise-like spots under the skin’s surface. But unlike bruises, Broken Capillaries don't heal or disappear over time. Once the capillaries are broken, the veins remain damaged and will not constrict back to their normal thickness or repair themselves.
While the cause of Broken Capillaries can be a variety of issues, from hereditary to too much sun exposure, getting rid of them can be a tiresome task. Unfortunately, Broken Capillaries become more prominent with age because skin becomes thinner (translucent) and it’s easier to see the veins. It's easy to spot Broken Capillaries.
